NP242 Insight

I've dropped the 242 out of my '91 for closer inspection. I'll be ordering a rebuild kit later this week.

But I was wondering if I should get a new chain while I have it apart and about some slack in the case. Took a video since I can't explain it too well.

Id also like to know if there are any worthy internal upgrades to do.

You have it apart on the bench...throw in a new chain.

Somewhat agree....new chain is not that much $$, but you can't really check the tension without the rear cover on since it holds the output shaft(s) in place. If it's off...why not "rebuild" it...keep you from wondering later down the road.

Then it gets a chain too. Wheres a good place to get both?
