Quick question about swapping axles between a 95 and a 97

I found a cheap 95 XJ with 116k miles. I currently have a 97 XJ with an 8.25 rear end. I really don't like the newer body style. I'm pretty sure the 95 XJ has a dana 35.

Would I be able to do a direct axle swap between rigs with no other modifications or parts needed?

Mostly...

The axle will fit, of that there is zero doubt.

The D35's pinion is shorter than the Corporate 8.25, so the driveshaft length will be an issue. The front yoke on the 97 may have a larger outside diameter on the 97 because it rides on the outside of the housing instead of the inside. I have not tried to slide a new style yoke in an older TC. If they are different, you may need to swap the old yoke to the new driveshaft.

You'll have to work out your ebrake cables, but that should not be a big obstacle.
