Running Rough

So I just purchased a 88 cherokee for a dd. The rig I purchased supposedly had a bad tranny. Would not shift into OD. So I did the research and unplugged the TCU. Manually shifting it, it works just fine. Runs about 2800rpm at 60mph...that seem right? Now the Jeep has a hard time starting and runs rough at idle. Anyone ever had that happen?

Define "hard time starting".

Rough idle could be your basic tuneup items--plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air filter. Old XJs could be a problem with the fuel injectors, the OEMs were a two-piece crimped body that leaks and leads to engine fires. Also, the injector seals will dry out and cause intake leaks.

Any idea when the o2 sensor was changed last?
