So I found a vacuum hose that runs along the firewall and goes nowhere.
traced it back to a hard line that then goes all the way to the gas tank.
where is this hose supposed to attach?
('93 XJ, 4.0L,4X4, Auto)
thanks
i can get pics if needed.

Sounds like part of the evap recovery system - didn't know the 93 had that. It should plug into either the evap purge solenoid, the vapor recovery canister, or somewhere on the intake manifold... not sure.

There are two ports on top of the gas tank, "rollover valves", with hoses from each. Those hoses should come together at a T somewhere and continue on to the charcoal cannister where there is only one small line with a metered orofice and a large line to the intake. The large line supplies vacuum to the cannister, the small line sucks air (gas fumes) out of the tank to be burned thru the intake.
