1992 AX-15 same as 1990?

I might need to replace the AX-15 in my 1990 XJ. I found someone who has one from a 1992. The longblock from the 1992 would be going in too. (I would swap my sensors and electronics to it)

Would this be an easy bolt-up swap? Or do I need to get other parts from the 1992 for the tranny?

Also, would my current tranfer case (NP 231) work with the 1992 AX-15? Or is the output on the 1992 AX-15 different from the one on my 1990.

I think I read somewhere that both the AX-15 and NP 231 have different output/ input spline counts depending on the year. I can't find where I read it now...
