Power Steering pump question. Help please!!

My power steering pressure hose has been leaking for a bit; I haven't had a chance to replace it yet, but plan to on wednesday. This morning while driving my, it jeep started to make a whining sound coming from around the area of the leak. Is it the power steering pump making the whining sound because it is low on fluid? Thanks in advance for any help!!!

Yup, and it is probably worse when your turn the wheel, right? Keep it topped off with fluid (to the proper level)...meaning check it more often if you have a leak.

PS fluid when misted--like spraying out of the high pressure hose--becomes EXTREMELY volatile.

Its leaking really slow.....just haven't had a chance to get to it and replace the line yet.
