1998 aw4 into a 1996

In the middle of helping someone put a 1998 2wd aw4 into a 1996 2wd and would like to know what exactly I need to do to make the 1998 compatible with the 1996 wiring and tcu. Thank in advance and yes I've searched.
 
your doing the hardest part of making it a 4X4!
 
Haha, yes I know. I've already done the 4x4 swap on mine with another 1998 transmission. The 2wd trans is my "old" trans and I'm helping the guy I sold it to put it in his 1996 with a toasted trans.
