88 stalls at crawl speed

I have a 88 xj 6 cyl. auto that stalls at low speeds . Tried to drive it up on

my aluminum ramp slowly and it kept on stalling. I have no problem at start

up and it idles fine. Should I check TPS or look for some other sensor?

Ok, your idle speed should be checked as follows:

Engine and transmission fully warmed--after 20 minutes of operation.

Transmission in DRIVE engine idle should be 700~750 RPM, if it is not then that is the source of your stalling.

Use an external tach for checking, don't rely on the dash tach (if so equipped). Make sure that the parking brake is set AND you have a friend sitting in the driver's seat with their foot on the service brake so you don't run yourself over, or end up with a runaway XJ.

Post back your results.

Ever done any normal maintenance like cleaning the throttle body, tune-up with plugs, wires, cap and rotor?

I agree. After the maintenance check the TPS reference and output voltages.
