Just replaced my starter

What a pain in the arse when you have a skid row plate. Took an extra couple of minutes but it is now starting like a champ. I have a 93 XJ 4.0 with 135,000 miles. Is this normal time for a starter to give out?

Best advice: Take the oil filter off to see the top bolt.

Ive seen them fail right out of the box. Water, dirt, oil can cause premature starter failure.

So can heat. Still, I seem to have been replacing starters (OEM) from 140Kmiles to about 200Kmiles. I do replace them with rewinds - which I get locally. See my site to see the shop I use.
