I got a 94 xj with an oil leak coming from the part that the oil filter screws into. I don't have a manual to look it up either. Does anybody know what this part is called an how tough is it going to be to fix?

I called it a oil filter adapter, when i called the dealership. Is it leaking from the adapter like there's a crack or where it mounts to the block? There is a small set of O rings that can be bought from your local dealership, if its leaking where the adapter meets the block.

sounds like the 3 o-rings in the oil filter adapter. my 92 had a 5/8 bolt that i popped out and replaced the o-rings. i think the newer ones have a T60 torx bolt. 15 minutes total.

Mine was a T60, but it was not so easy to get out. I ended up having to weld the t60 socket to a 3/8" steel re-bar. With a little searching i do believe i found a write up on one of the jeep forums.

yea there is a crack in it. It looks like the owner before tried to use some glue and tuck tape to seal it.
