Hello,

I have a 92 Xj, 4.0L, 4x4, aw4, 4 dr, 231 Xfer Case, 4.5" lift

Just recently the motor started knocking...

Now its getting alot worse.

I found a guy that has a 1997 TJ
4.0L, 4x4, 231 X-fer case, and aw4 trans.

What problem will I have taking out my engine trans and transfer case and putting in his..

I have heard that the speedo drive is different and the exhaust is different... if I am wrong let me know...anything else gonna be a surprise...?

Thanks,
Garrett

This belongs in MOD Tech, you will get more responses there.

You many need to swap accessories, but it should bolt in, you may need to swap the speedo sending unit. Or, you could buy the whole thing swap in the engine and sell the rest.

Before you pony up for a new motor, check the flex plate bolts to the torque converter. These tend to come loose and sound just like a rod knock.
Agreed. That thing can sound horrible. Other than that advice i dont have anything to offer. Ive only owned RENIX rigs.
