Squeeling Air

Its winter here

I park my XJ outside, -5 to -10C or 20F
88 Cherokee, automatic, 4.0L

Everytime I turn on the heat it squeels for a good 5 minutes then goes away. Is it the motor I need to replace? or can I oil it somehow?

Never done it on a Cherokee blower motor, but I've taken apart other heater fan motors, cleaned and oiled the bearings and reassembled successfully.

the blower motor is on the passenger side firewall...pretty easy to get to from under the hood. i replaced mine a few years ago, only cost $20-$30 to get a new one. you'll most likely have to switch the old fan (looks like a hamster wheel) onto the new motor, but that's easy. i don't recall it being a serviceable part, and it's cheap/easy to just get a new one and swap it in. that should fix your problem.
