Iron Diff Skid/ Riddler MFG

Hey guys,

In my search for acheap way to protect my D30 up front, I've come across a couple different options. One of them being the Warn D30 diff skid, which is jsut a cover that goes over the actual stock diff cover. The other being from Ruff Stuff specialities That is made of either iron or steel. The iron one seems to be listed at about $99, while the steel at $170. Is there any problem with running an iron diff cover? advantages? disadvantages?

There are a few threads on this very topic already...

Anyway, check out Rockcrusher's covers. Depending on where you get them one for the D30 should be $45-65.

Hmm... after just checking it looks like Rockcrusher just changed their name (while joining another company) to Solid Axle Industries...

Do you have any sources to purchase them at? I tried searching under iron diff cover and like things, but didn't find much, I'll keep looking for the threads you mentioned...

Missed this the first time around, so:

Mad4wd www.mad4wd.com (I have an order with them, still on backorder for mine)
Northridge4x4 http://www.northridge4x4.com/proddetail.php?prod=RC-DIFFCOVERS (Even though the "guarantee" prices, they wouldn't match Mad4wd... some guarantee :nono:)
Quadratec http://www.quadratec.com/products/12011_700.htm (They also price match, but I haven't tried them. I've had good luck in the past however)

Cast Iron was truly never meant for impact, way too brittle, the $170 option is another matter, that one is Chrome Moly if I remember correctly. Ours are A50 plate steel, A50 is a very dense steel, excellent for both impact and abrasion resistance.
