Door latch stuck

I have a 95 cherokee 4.0 I6

My driver's door latch wont release. I went to close the door and im guessing the latch wasnt all the way open and when it hit the striker, the striker locked the latch closed. So now the door wont close and the latch wont release. Inside and outside handles do nothing. Ive even tried pulling the rods inside the door by hand. Nothing seems to be working. Any help is appreciated.

Just hook the latch with a screwdriver, push the the button and flick open the latch with screwdriver.

Reach inside the door and feel for a tab on the latch mech near the top, toward the outside of the door from where the rods all attach - push up on it. That should force the latch to open regardless of anything else, you may have to push outward on the door while doing this.
