Went to the jeep this morning and it was dead, so jump started and in the dark mixed the old positve and negative cable(sucks) checked all the fuses and all good, sounds like it wants to kick over but won't, is the main computer fried??:tear:

You may have toasted all manner of things... no idea which. When my dad did that to his minivan accidentally, the casualties included the alternator (the internal regulator, actually), ECU, distributor, and for some reason the fuel pump. Everything else survived. Try connecting a diagnostic scanner (OBD I or OBD II?) to it and see if it gets anything - if it says it can't connect, the ECU is toast most likely. Once you've got that fixed, test and replace other items as needed.

Does "sounds like it wants to click over" mean that the starter is cranking rapidly or not?

Agreed. You need to pull the battery and fully charge it overnight (good) or for 24 hours (better). While it is charging is a good time to clean the cables, both ends, and test them with an ohm meter.

Ok, battery fully charged now have it load tested. Passed?
