96 ZJ D30 into a 90 XJ

I'm being given a D30 out of a 96 ZJ. Will it swap directly into my 1990 XJ? I want this axle because its the non-disco HP 30. I also plan to run the larger 297 u-joints. No locker, just a tru-trac LS with 35" M/Ts or Swampers.

I want to keep the D30 because I just purchased a D44 for the Jeep and want to keep the same lug pattern.

The Jeep is a trail only vehicle with maybe 10-20% time on the street. Thanks for any input.

Yup, it bolts in. You sure it's a HP? I didn't think ZJ's came with them, but I could be wrong.

I've been wondering about this myself, mostly for the improved brakes and steering on the WJ/ZJ. I assume 15" alloy wheels will work with the ZJ knuckles? Any other things to watch out for?

i am pretty sure zj's have cv style axle shafts? and according to this web site they dont use reverse cut gears what makes me think they are low pinion.

do zjs have better brakes? i was under the impression that the wj brakes were the preferred upgrade, but if the zj axle is an easy swap and i get better brakes, i'm on it!
