Swapping stock axles and driveshaft length

I found an 8.25 from a 93 with new brakes for dirt cheap, I would like to practice messing around with some truss designs on this and install it into my 87 w/ a d44. Will all the dimensions be proper for a smooth install or does this require a longer driveshaft?

You should be fine. The pinion length on a D44 and an 8.25 are much closer than a D44 and a D35, and I didn't have any problems when I traded my D35 for a 44.
