Use RTV on front inner axle seals?

Well I've seen a few write ups and no one seems to use RTV where the seals seat inside the axle housing but I figured I would ask to see what everyone else has done.

I used RTV when i did mine. Just to insure that it wouldn't leak.

I've read to smear a bit around the seat before putting the seal in.

I know when I usually replace bearings in rear c-clip axles which has a similar seal I always put RTV around the seat...thats probably what I'm going to do with these.

i didn't use any and its been over a year since i did my seals, no leaks yet

Never. They have always tapped in and worked just fine.
