..ever haffta replace the throttle cable assy on a 89' 4.0 I6.....Got the cable but gettin it through the firewall is a biotch......freakin clip wont catch:smsoap:

I did it once on an 87, but it was a long time ago. I may have put it in from engine side. I don't remember any real problem with getting it through the grommet. I do remember that the cable from an 89 is not the same length as that for an 87, and I had to replace the gas pedal too.

Which end won't catch...pedal or TB end? I did the one my 90' without any probs.

Pedal end...I can get it through the firewall...BUT there is a slotted disc that the "ears" on the push through HAFFTA fit over.Tabs are too long...+ the square hole where the clip goes into is too big...I can push the retainer back out through the hole...Might haffta trim down the ears a little...oh thrill

Done Deal....just wasn't pushin hard enough...need more Geritol I guess:laugh3:
