Trail rides in northern michigan

Welcome.

The Grayling tank trails are a fun family trip. Nothing as far as serious wheeling but it is entertaining to see what armed forces has going on (convoys, gilly suits, replica middle eastern villages, etc)

Nope, from what I have been told and experienced last June with a group of 30 Jeeps, you are good as long as the gates are open. If they are doing special exercises or using live rounds, they have the area locked/blocked off.

Hmmmm post up next time you head out there.

Camp Grayling Military Installation in Grayling MI is the largest National Guard training facility in the U.S., due to its many ranges and ample maneuver areas. It was founded in 1913 on an initial grant of land from Grayling lumber baron Rasmus Hanson to the State of Michigan for military training, and now spans 147,000 acres in Crawford, Kalkaska and Otsego counties. Much of that acreage is accessible to the public for hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and other recreational uses when military training is not taking place. The main post is only accessible to those with military ID’s.

Was just wheeling Camp Grayling last weekend... usually hit there 1-2 times a month. It's more challenging than St Helen that's for sure, in many areas. We also do Gaylord a few times every summer too with 5-10 rigs usually...

One thing we did notice last weekend, that we have not seen before, was that there is no longer cell coverage in most areas, and that we found a few "banks" and other businesses on the GPS out in the middle of nowhere... we were 5-6 miles behind the gate...
