When I modify my hinges myself I do it with the doors still bolted on the Cherokee, its kinda a pain to get the grinder in there but it saves a lot of heart ache in the end. I recently bought a 91 XJ and whoever modified the doors to be removed unbolted the doors, then cut the hinges, then bolted the hinges back to the door.
They are waaay off now, don't line up for shit and have pretty much ruined both front fenders from rubbing them when opening/closing the doors.
Whats the right way or a good rule of thumb to get the doors to line back up? Theres a lot of room for play between the piece that's treaded inside the door since its not a fixed piece. Do I slide and mount the hinges all the way to the front, back, center them, what?
