Is there anyplace around the north Seattle area that I could get the pcm software updated in my '98 XJ without having to go to a dealer?

I looked into it for my 98 to resolve a TSB for a check engine light, and it seems like even the dealers don't want to touch it. There's like only one new cal for 98's, what were you trying to resolve?

Mostly want to get rid of the nuisance P0107 Map sensor code.

I'm not sure there is a PCM update to correct the P0107 code, it sounds more like you have an actual fault, have you tried testing the map sensor and related wiring?

PCM part number is P56041. Why do you ask?

There's a TSB because of the P0107 nuisance code. Mine is a nuisance, it's not a real fault.

you need to add the last three numbers and two letters for a complete part number.
