Have a little cash to spend on some armor. Debating on a few pieces, but wondering who if anyone has had experience with it.

First would be orfab quarter panel armor http://www.orfab.com/details.php?Ap...HEROKEE XJ QUARTER ARMOR WITH RAIL&Active=Yes

Anyone run these? Worth the Money? Any feed back etc...

Second would be a JCR tank skid. http://www.jcroffroad.com/mm5/merch...Category_Code=XJArmor&Product_Code=XJ-SKD-TNK

Same questions.

Last, if you were me, which pieces would you purchase first? Keep in mind everything else is stock, minus rock sliders from Serious Offroad. I'm taking care of all the armor on the rig first, then suspension and what not. This jeep won't see the dirt until it is completely finish. Pictures always help! Thanks

I've wheeled mine as I've been working on it... I'm mean I'm not doing the Rubicon with it or anything, but it's still very capable "half done" to tackle anything I've thrown at it... just build it right as you go instead of "half assing" it. I mean really, I would have to say in my honest opinion... if I saw an armored up stock xj on 27" tires, id put it in the class with a body kit on a Ford escort.

Not being rude but I just feel this route is a little weird.

Lol, ever watch the Jesse James show... whatever it is? Where they plated an entire El Camino in 3/8"? Just do that :)

But for real I wasn't trying to dog or discourage you, i just see things different. Id do the gas skid for sure, 1/4's if your really worried about the body and id do stiffeners if your gonna get serious with it... I know its not "armor" but its worth doing. Then you'd have a solid base for suspension, bumper mounts, etc.

It's all good, I have thick skin. Everyone builds their heeps up differently. I think I will just do the tank skid.

I already have TNT frame stiffeners.

Thanks for the input gents.

Personally I'd do sliders or rocker replacements before either of these. I've scrapped my tank once but I make contact on my sliders everytime I go out...

Just sayin' ;)
