Cowl Intake suppliers?..

FYI. THOR is apparently still in business just has outdated contact information on the site. I ordered one last week and received it on Monday (6/8/15).

AWESOME. I want one. Bad.

Question though . . . is that filter re-usable? If not, how does one go about replacing it.

OH! And also, if you've installed it, can you notice any seat-of-your-pants improvements? An intake that brings in air that is actually cold is one of those things that's supposed to offer more than just a placebo effect, right?

I have a new Spectra intake kit for HO engines available for sale. I do not believe they are available from the manufacturer any longer. Shoot me a pm if interested.

I contacted Spectre on the 9948 Cowl Intake, and this is the response I got yesterday

Nothing yet, I've been using a CO2 tank,so don't really need a compressor or anything. I've thought about putting the winch control box under the hood(when i finally get a winch).

The winch controller will fit on the passenger side, next to the coolant bottle, with minor mods.

It's under the battery switch.

CO2 tanks fits fine in the rear.

Retaining the stock air box allows using a simple and cheap to build cowl intake that is very effective in lowering intake temperatures.

The older kit is oriented 180 degrees from the newer kit. This causes the older kit to have the tendency to separate under engine torque. A friend of mine had one on his Renix, and that was constantly a problem.

I still have a new HO kit available...

David Bricker, I am interested in the spectre intake kit if you still have it. I do, however, have a 2000 Cherokee XJ so it's not an HO motor. Will the kit not work on non High Output motors?

Thanks Gordo. I remember they were labeled HO 91-96 I believe and once they removed the label I wasn't aware they kept the same setup. I PM'd David. Just want to avoid having to build my own if possible. Too many other fab ideas going on at once. :looney:

That is in reference to engine management usually for the 4.0 engines.
Renix up to 90
Obd 1 91-96
Obd 2 96+

There were also engine internals and head porting changes that happened for the 91 year. Resulting in a boost of hp. They sold it badged as HO. ive seen some later models 97 and 98 have the high output badge on the back. But its just that. Badging.
