The rigs I love:
91 XJ - LOVE IT was my original trailblazer, now it's getting neutered to a 2WD and has been taken over as my wife's grocery getter :rattle:
92 YJ- LOVE IT My latest trailblazer, I think it's going to stay a favorite for a long time to come. :heart...
Hi and thanks for the reply,
I posted this in OEM by mistake, the thread that has the discussion going can be found here:

Thanks again for the reply, hope ya chime in over on the other thread. :)

N20 Jeep,
That's pretty badass if I may say so. I've got an XJ and a YJ that I'd love to bolt on NOS, if for nothing but some occasional chirping.
I find the YJ is normally used in the lower gears(on the trail), but I bet it's fun to slam that while putting down the road, or from a stoplight...
:repair:
Thanks for the clear and great responses guys.
Jeff,
I really appreciate the info and the offer, I think the fella that has the tranny will toss in the slip yoke, but I'll keep it in mind.
The XJ may be 2wd for a bit due to ease of install, but I'll get it back to 4WD asap :)

Hey there XJ Ranger,
Yeah I realize that. Since the loss of the TC will mean that the 4WD's DS won't be long enough.
As the original post says though, I will get the 2WD AX5 and the 2WD Driveshaft, so would that be a bolt up easy 2WD system or will I need to get the DS cut and welded...
[posted to wrong thread again, sorry- not really used to forum boards yet]
I was looking on here and it seems straightforward:

seems that i might even be able to put the busted AX5's rear casing onto the 2wd AX5 and then bolt up the tc and 4wd...

Hi there again,
How easy would it be to put a 2WD AX5(2.5 I4) into a 4WD XJ(2.5 I4). The 4WD XJ's tranny is busted and I found a 2WD AX5 cheap(200 bux). I need to get the car on the road and would sacrifice the 4WD to do so, for a short time while planning a 4WD...

Thanks for the help badge.
Dark out now so I called it a day, just shot ya an email a few minutes ago. Really appreciate it.
Will try the harness tomorrow.

Hey badge,
I mocked the bellhousing up there with the CPS in it. Still giving me trouble. No spark to the coil wire.
I also have run the codes(check engine light) and come back with the following code set:
12 begin
11 cps code * that's while it's hooked up properly in the bellhousing
55...
Howdy,
Thanks folks. I've been out there and tested the ballast, it's fine. Got the cps up without magnet and still not working. Any other thoughts, I'll go mock it up better now.
Also will look into the clutch switch, but think I've already got it covered.

Hi there,
It's an AX5 manual tranny, wasn't sure if it'd have a neutral safety switch on it, does it? There was a couple of wires that ran to a inlet by the shiter input, I hooked those up as well hoping if it did have a safety, that would fool it.
Not familiar at all with the ballast...
Hi there,
Got a 91 XJ with the tranny(ax5) out of it at the moment. I have been trying to get it to start, but get no spark whatsoever.
Have tested the coil and checked out the PCM and they seem to be working fine. I also have the crankshaft sensor up near the flywheel with a magnet holding it...
Hmm, sounding like a quick rebuild will serve my purposes better.
Can't I find a bellhousing adapter from somewhere like advance adapters? Probably not the most desired combo and I don't think I want to pay for a one off fab, yeah probably not. The output spline would be another pain...
Ok...
Hi there,
I tried to edit the title but it seems that didn't work. Anyway, thanks for the tip, I shot him a PM with the post's contents.
Anyone else have any experience with this?

ATTN: Old_Man(Tom)Swapping an AW4 into a 91 XJ w/ a busted AX5
Howdy,
I have a bit of a situation, and heard that NAXJA.org was the place to come for the experts on XJ customization.
I've got a 91 XJ(I4, mainly stock) that I am dieing to get back on the road; wife busted up the stock AX5...
