I just swapped in an '93-'94 Grand Cherokee engine into a '91 XJ. The old engine ran OK, no problem with that but the "new" doesn't run on all cylinders, maybe just 4. All cylinders do have compression and the spark plugs are new. The ignition is the same as on the old engine, almost new rotor...
Since my stroker engine has a Renix block but the rest is HO, where would be the best place to mount the ignition coil? The threads in the block are missing on the renix block...
I swapped the engine and automatic tranny from my '91 XJ to my '87 YJ so mechanically/electrically wise this is just an '91 XJ. It fired right up the first time I started the engine but then I put a stroked engine in it and now it won't start. So this is what I've done so far:

So I just bought a stroked engine, instead of doing everything myself. It has the Accurate Power stroker kit in it and is bored 0.060" over which makes it a 4.7. The only problem is that the guy who had it built didn't do any head work on it, so I will port the head and maybe have a valve job...

Thanks!
I hope it doesn't bother you that I'm actually building a YJ, not a XJ :D But the engine and trans (AW4) will be pulled from a XJ and this seemes to be a decent place to get good answers to my questions so I thought why not... a 4.0 is still a 4.0 no matter if it is in a YJ or XJ... or is it...
Hey there.
I'm considerin to buy a '90 XJ Limited.
Most likely it has a blown head gasket but I might be able to get a little bit tuned replacement engine for cheap, so that's not a big deal.
The volt meter reads low. How will I find out if the alternator is shot, or if there is another...
