(Grind # J4.0 X4 250L-13) Anyone have this cam installed?

I’ve made my choice, Comp cams 232-4, it provides “excellent torque and good mid range power”. I wrote down all potential activities with my Jeep, trail riding and towing are two major things, but I had to keep in mind that I pass people a lot because the... frickers... for some reason think...

(Grind # J4.0 X4 250L-13) Anyone have this cam installed?

I’m just aiming for like 275hp 300tq, the most I’ve ever towed with my brick was a big dump trailer weighing like 2500. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Oh! Now I know who your talking about, just took me a second to recall that memory lol. I’ll have to hit him up when I got the time and budget, being out of the house for almost 60 hours a week SUCKS, just now had a break today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Bigger crankshaft first? sure, but It’s already got neon injectors cause the old ones rusted out and started leaking, and it has the stock intake box on it so I don’t think putting something like a 62mm throttle body on it would make any difference other than slowing down intake velocity a bit...

Also forgot to mention, Cloyes does actually make a heavy duty timing set for post 98 engines . In the past few years, I've been seeing an increasing amount of support for my 4.0 in terms of that stuff, hence this "new" camshaft.

I see, yes I was actually gonna do the 232-4 if I had swapped to the older style, I’d probably also just get springs just because, that valve cover hasn’t been opened since it was put on 20 years and 200k miles ago lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

In terms of waiting, you drive a fair point, however I’ve heard about people having issues with low vacuum on the bigger cams, this is the one of my two vehicles with working A/C therefore I DD this thing during the summer so I want at least some drivability. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    chatter sound

Could also be lower timing cover bolts backing out and hitting the balancer, had that problem with my 01, very unlikely though. Just thought I’d throw that out there for y’a. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The manufacturer is Comp Cams, can’t be too radical cause it says I can use the stock springs and lifters. Also yes I’ve heard about people swapping to the older style, is it worth doing, never planned on putting anything really extreme in it other than a 4.6 stroker kit. Sent from my iPhone...

(Grind # J4.0 X4 250L-13) Anyone have this cam installed?

01 XJ - Stock engine I’ve been looking for a good mild cam, but being a post 98 engine that was always a PITA being that they changed to the retainer instead of the bolt and spring. Finally, one day I found one, brand new design (I think, lol) for the 99-06 motors. I wanted to wait a bit for...

    Q: Does my 01 XJ have a clear-flood mode?

Haven’t had the time lately to test anything, I think the plugs are original lol. I’m the third owner, and the two previous owners were kind, older people. Its my DD, so I need to make sure I have the time to tear it apart and get it back together before school/work the next day. Sent from my...

    Q: Does my 01 XJ have a clear-flood mode?

I wonder if I have a leaking injector then? When I put the pedal to the floor it still tries to fire in one cylinder. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Q: Does my 01 XJ have a clear-flood mode?

2001 XJ like mentioned above, stock engine, no aftermarket immobilizer or anything. It’s mostly out of curiosity, but I have this random thing where it won’t start, hot or cold, is been going on for about a year. I wanted to see if getting the engine up to full cranking speed before firing the...

Preventing rocker rust... what’s the best solution?

I figured as much since there is no real way to get inside there CT, if the repair costs as much as I think it does, then I definitely don’t have the money to just replace it right now, that’s unfortunate... Good idea with the POR-15, I actually have some that I used on the rear quarters behind...

Preventing rocker rust... what’s the best solution?

01 XJ, 4.0 4” lift on 31s 192k miles I guess I’ll put this here since it is the stock rocker panel after all, not a square tube replacement (yet). I want to keep rolling with my mostly rust-free rocker panels but Michigan is starting to take her toll on them, there is some bubbling on the...

Whistle sound at specific throttle position

Good point, but last year I replaced my heater core, and Noticed one of the lines was completely broke (probably from me yanking on the assembly trying to get it out) and I ended up replacing all the lines in there before putting it back in.

Whistle sound at specific throttle position

man, I'm really hoping it's not the intake/exhaust gasket haha. I think I am going to make a temporary cereal box gasket to put on the TB just to see what happens, I've got high temp silicone that I can use but I like to use it wisely.
