Hi, pick your brains please! Got a 97 XJ, and soon to put new hubs in. (No abs) standard D30. So I think ... what the heck, axles are out. So I might as well put new "U" joints on the front axles. Plus new upper and lower joints. Make a day of it! BUT... are the axel "U" joints the same...

Can someone enlighten me as to the importance of the common practice of marking the ring gear to the carrier, when separating, and re-fitting it... I can't imagine they are balanced in the factory assemble???? What are the issues of fitting a replacement ring gear to the carrier.... Newbie...

Did they ever make an open 8.25 center? As I want to fit a auto locker. But mine is an LSD center 29. What is the real reason why it needs to be an open style carrier to fit an Aussie or a Spartan? Can parts be machined to make it possible? Stuck in Australia where it is hard to source parts
