Swapping 96 xj steering wheel for newer

the '96 steering wheel is unique and uglier than sin. I'm not looking for the older style without airbag, I'd be super happy with the 97-01 steering wheel. anyone done this? what's needed exactly if it's possible, keeping the air bag and not setting off the light etc

    New Vs. Welded exhaust manifold

Going to pull this sucker out of my 96 this week or next when I have time. Should I take it to the muffler guys to weld or buy a new exhaust mani? I'm in CA and slightly concerned about smog, though I could find someone who will pass it regardless would rather it be a non issue forever.

Low idle while coming to complete stop?

96 XJ runs great otherwise. I have low-ish idle while coming to a dead stop on the brakes (can dip down to 690) but once stopped, goes back up again to 720-750 idling in drive. idle is normal 750-800 in park. coming to a stop you can hear the rpms drop and feel it a bit. gets a little better...

My custom kit has the 4" Medium or Heavy OME leafs and the Clayton one comes with their 4.5" leafs, and i'm wondering if anyone has experience with either. the clayton seems...

    Checklist for manifold job

I'm about to pull the manifold and reweld the headers. I heard that one can upgrade to a 99+ manifold in the process but I don't think I'd gain so much for it to be worth it on my 96.I'm just looking for other upgrades to do while I'm in there. It's currently stock. So far I'm going to do: 12...

Oil smells like gas; no codes

Just pulled my oil after about 1.5k miles because I don’t drive it that often (it’s a camp rig) and it’s been about four months. The oil smelled like exhaust pretty good. However, I pulled a tablespoon and held a match to it but didn’t catch. I’m told some oil smell is normal but the oil (Mobil...
