1990 turn and parking light issue left front and dash

SOLVED!!!!! Turns out the ground contact in the socket has failed, internal failure in the socket, not made to disassemble for repair corrosion got in there, likely from the back side as the rubber boots they use are not really water proof. ORielly Auto Parts sells the Dorman #85898 The...

Rear Weight Distribution and Shackle Length

A person often weighs more than the spare tire and gas can. So I doubt the weight of such will cause handling problems, else the jeep will handle differently just by the number of people being carried and where they sit. When I added my tire carrier with 33x 12.5 inch tire, it made no...

Tire Decision - Debating between AT and MT

CB pros, I've screwed up my ant

My limited understanding is that the best antenna location is the middle of the roof. Best to get the fat coax wire, not the skinny stuff for less loses. Ditto on do not coil it up. Keep cable short as possible. Tune your antenna length with a reflected power meter. and never ever transmit...

    Modded steering pump.

My 1990 renjx has the electric fan. As for keeping the pump cool, install a cooler ahead of the radiator. I used the stock tranny cooler for steering fluid (and also have a larger tranny cooler now) I also installed an inline filter for the steering fluid Magnafine brand filter the metal...

4.56 gears with 33s= what gas mileage?

You may not like it if you drive steep mountains. Highway 4 in Califirnia for example, that is steep, plus the thin high altitude air causes HP loss. like I said, my friend rig does better than mine, but he is has 32 tires, with I assume less rolling resistance as they are AT tires, not MT...

    Rear frame stiffeners for towing/weight?

I wonder if adding a cross member like the tranny mount , but further back will help with twist? Can go too far back as the drive shaft needs to have space. My rig has a lot of articulation so clearing the driveshaft is an issue if adding "ladder rungs" unless I do some wildly bent upside...

    Rear frame stiffeners for towing/weight?

I suppose tying in a stiff cage will hep. the stiffeners I think help bending up and down, but since they dont add anything across the jeep, rather only lengthwise, they dont make a ladder frame. i am thinking a ladder frame will resist twist, as the rungs of a ladder frame help I think...

    Rear frame stiffeners for towing/weight?

I got center stiffeners, but the pan later cracked on the hump under back seat my guess it was from twist. then again maybe the pan cracked as I made the center too stiff? With frame stiffeners, the pan still is acting as the cross pieces of the frame " ladder" i am a bit disappointed...

Get a new O2 sensor when you replace the cat, an old worn sensor can destroy a new cat If theft is an issue, only use the expensive cat on test days, use the cheapo cat minus the guts for the crooks to steal. A friend of mine had his cat stolen, he replaced it, one month later it too was...

4.56 gears with 33s= what gas mileage?

I got 33x12 MT Wranglers (Good year) lifted 5.5 inch, and lots of weight, i.e. roof rack, heavy bumpers, winch, loaded with camping gear, spare gas, water, tools etc.... I got a 4.11 gear. I get 15 to 16 mpg on highway. Steep grades mean a lot of down shifting. she is a tad slow. (1990...

Tire Decision - Debating between AT and MT

I got 33 inch MT Goodyear Wrangler Kevlar. Rides fine on highway, (it aint no Porsche) great off road. The kevlar sidewalls are appreciated. I have torn lesser sidewalls. Of course make sure you air way down for offroading, that makes a hugemungus difference. I run 30 psi cold, 35...
