Hello -
This forum has been really helpful to me and I have loved my XJ adventure. But, my student needs a different vehicle.
Please check out my listing here on craigslist

Quick summary of work...
So this is weird...my A/C clutch is cycling but the A/C is not turned on. The system dial was set to defrost/lower foot mix (the heat side ...not AC side) and the temperature mixer was set to warm.
Any ideas on diagnostic procedures?
It's a 2001 Sport.
I contacted a mobile mechanic over craigslist and he was awesome. Went to the yard and took photos. Was going to remove them and put them on a greyhound bus...but I decided against them on the basis they were manual windows and I have electric. Too much work to swap when you’re talking about...
Hello -
I need to replace a couple of my doors on a 2000 XJ. The ones I found are rust free and in my color - cool right!!
The only catch is they are manual and my current doors are electric.
I know people love their manual doors, but I am going to keep mine electric since that's what is...
Hi Everyone -
I am looking to pull doors from a 2001 XJ in Bakersfield, CA.
I am in the rust belt in Pittsburgh PA and I am looking to replace doors on my XJ. I can't get to Bakersfield to do it myself.
Please let me know if you have any tips. Obviously, I will also have to ship them - which...
Buy a factory gas cap. Really. Just do it.
If you don't want to spend the $18, you are probably wasting time or money.
I bought a little smoke machine and in the end only needed a gas cap...
First, make a distinction between no heat- as in zero ...nada and weak heat. If you have some or weak heat...this isn't your issue....but if you have zero heat...this might help....read on.
The "crisis" situation is the heater core...calm down and check something else first.
The next "crisis"...
This is a pretty messy job. It also takes a lot longer than you think if you are going to do it right. Don't let the online videos fool you....if it hasn't been done in a long time - or you don't know when it was last done you can plan several hours. This is mainly due to the cleaning cycles...
It's common knowledge among XJ fans that the aluminum bracket that mounts between the inside of the steering box and the driver side frame must have been designed by the same people who make the plastic cutouts for model car parts. It is fragile and disintegrates. So, it needs to be replaced...
I bought a Moog lower and was really ticked off with it. They have a really stupid grease input that is hard to deal with and needs a special grease gun attachment to fill. It was a major PIA. No more moog for me.
I was able to use hardened washers as a leveling insert for the uppers. Take your time as you start to press them in and start over if you don’t have it right.
Also, if you have to take them out be careful not to mushroom the bottom of the stud where the castle nut screws on. Easy to do when...
Mine is a 2000 sport with 135k.
I had a lot of trouble with rusty bolts doing the front end lift...so I am sort of expecting the worst for the rear leaf spring bolts.
All -
I am planning my rear leaf spring replacement strategy. Obviously, the captured weld nuts in the front and rear are a major deterrent to the whole operation.
For the installation part of this....what do people think of drilling a hole on the other side of the frame which is large enough...
Here's what I learned today installing the lower control arms and upper control arms and mounting the axle.
It's way way way easier to install the arms on the frame side and then work the axle into place rather than installing on the axle first. I had tried to install on the axle and then mount...
