Identifying Oil pan gasket or RMS leak

So the leak continues.... https://photos.app.goo.gl/3ZZJ2JdKYMLsdWF59 Torqueing down the loose bolts didn't seem to make any difference. Guess I'll have to take it apart and change the damm gasket. I won't redo RMS, that's for sure. I know I did it the right way, so the gasket will be my last...

Identifying Oil pan gasket or RMS leak

No I didn't, but what would be the point of that, once the valve cover is all dry and clean around? I have put my hand all over it and it is dry. The engine has no oil running around it, so it's definately either an oil pan or RMS issue. I'll run it today and see if I find where it leaks now...

Identifying Oil pan gasket or RMS leak

So I have searched around the engine and didn't find any leaks around the valve cover or oil filter area as cruiser54 suggests. But what I did find was that the two 5/16" bolts that holds the oil pan in the RMS area were very loose. So I tightened them a little bit more. Of course now that the...

Identifying Oil pan gasket or RMS leak

By the way, it's coming from the TOP area of the inspection plate (you can see in the pic how it runs from the top to the bottom).

Identifying Oil pan gasket or RMS leak

Hello everyone, Vehicle: Jeep Cherokee 98 4.0 with 5 speed (AX-15). So I have recently replaced my RMS but it is still dripping oil. This is what it drips after 15 min on idle: https://photos.app.goo.gl/6nCUKrSLXaFR1Pc1A And this is where the oil comes from, the front of the flywheel...

Yet ANOTHER noise! (Clutch, AX-15 experts?)

I wouldn't create a new thread for an old problem ;) But yeah, I'm hoping to get someone who had the same experience with this damm TOBs...

Yet ANOTHER noise! (Clutch, AX-15 experts?)

I know XJs doesn't have self-adjusting clutches, but this is the noise my jeep makes. It makes little noises when my foot is out of the pedal and it's engaged, which I can rear on the road if I pass close to a wall. If I slightly press the pedal the noise increases, and then ceases by pressing a...

    OBD2 - Fuel trims issue

My coil is a little bit cracked indeed, but there is no hesitation when starting the jeep nor sparks in the dark. I purchased a new coil just in case, but it hasn't arrived yet. I bought the jeep with the spark plugs that are in it. I mean, they are at least 1 year and 3 months old, LOL... But...

    OBD2 - Fuel trims issue

Ohhh... I forgot to mention that in Brazil, our crappy gasoline has 27% Ethanol. But I don't know how that could affect the fuel trims.

    OBD2 - Fuel trims issue

I don't know if O2 sensor appearance tell us anything like spark plugs do, but anyway, here is what my O2 sensor looked like. Removed it and cleaned it before scanning it. I guess it should look black, not white? After letting it soak overnight in gasoline, I haven't noticed the jeep running...

    OBD2 - Fuel trims issue

The injectors are all stock from factory and are 20 years old hehe.. So I guess I'll clean them, first, right? I'll take them off and take it to a shop where they have those injector cleaning machines. Thanks for the input, I'll let you know how it turns out next week.

    OBD2 - Fuel trims issue

Header has a small crack which has been sealed with exhaust sealant (I know it is not a long term fix) to no change on the readings.

    OBD2 - Fuel trims issue

1998 XJ 4.0 Stock Engine 5 Speed Hollowed Cat Hello everyone, My 98' has been struggling while taking off after a red light for instance. Sometimes my engine would even stall. Sometimes it runs perfectly fine like today all day.... Never had an issue while on high RPMs and load so I guess that...

Another Engine Noise Thread (with audio file)

Mine sounds exactly the same, and after some time I stopped giving a sh*t to it. Sometimes it won't make that sound at all, but as you said, it will only make after some 30 secs or so after a cold start. BUT... We also have a common issue which bothers me: the late reaction on the gas pedal. It...

    Head bolt: Water jacket question

I do not have any coolant bubbling out of anywhere. I tought the bolt had something to do with coolant running through the exhaust, not on the bolt itself. Guess I'm good then. I'll try changing the rad cap next. Thanks for the suggestions.

    Head bolt: Water jacket question

Hello everyone, My name is Henrique and I'm from Brazil. I use my cherokee for light wheeling only (that doesn't mean that the right pedal won't be hitting the floor a lot). Last trail we made, my jeep arrived home with the temp just a hair higher than 212 and I know that is not a problem on a...
