I’m not sure what caused it to fall out, but yesterday when I opened the transmission I saw two more at the bottom of the gear case. All three had broken and fallen out of the 3rd/4th synchro, allowing the front bearing to move.
Is there a way to replace the keys without removing the...
I recently bought a used AX15 off of craigslist (see last post) and have spent the last few days cleaning it up. This is my first time doing transmission work, so I've got a few questions:
1. If I pull on the input shaft, I can make the input bearing pop out of the case of the transmission by...
Interesting-- I had assumed that there was some way for the clutch to fail that would've left the engine and transmission disconnected. They're definitely not engaged right now because I can put it in gear while the car is idling in place and it won't stall out. I'm hoping its not a bad...
Posting here to get some advice on how to fix my 1994 Cherokee Sport.
Long story short, halfway through a road trip yesterday I began to hear a whining noise from the transmission tunnel area of the car while driving around 75mph in 5th. Suddenly I heard some sort of bang, and pressing on the...
Once again thanks to everyone for their suggestions. This weekend I managed to tear into my wiring harness at the TPS to look for issues. Where the harness went under the fuel rail cover I noticed a nick on one of the wires coming from the crankshaft position sensor, so I covered it in...
I actually (somewhat) recreated the issues tonight. I would drive the car slowly, then slam on brakes. In the beginning, it didn't stall, but the more I did it the more frequently it would actually kill the engine. I also would let the car roll backwards and then slam the brakes. This killed it...
Thanks for the suggestions guys, I’ll try to replicate the issue and definitely will look through the wiring. I won’t have time until this weekend to do so, but once I do I’ll be sure to update the thread.

Right, I’ll try to get some diagnostics done. Also I should mention that it’s a 5 speed so hopefully it’s not any wires by the trans. But I’ll be tearing apart the loom this weekend to fix my TPS connection so I’ll check all the others, too.

Thanks, I’ll be sure to check that. While thinking about this last night I thought of another time that I was actually on completely flat ground but accidentally slammed the brakes and it killed the engine. The slamming on breaks felt pretty similar to the halt that happens when I stop it on a...
In my attempts to get my 1994 XJ Sport running right, I've run into another isssue. If I'm driving up a hill, it can make it alright. However, if I try to completely halt the car on the hill, the engine will die, and I can't get it to start back up without rolling it to flat ground. It will try...
Thanks for the reply. I searched for a TPS on mopar America for my 94 and got no results. Any suggestions on where to look?
Edit: Or could my local Jeep dealer carry them? It'd be nice to not have to wait on shipping.
Hello NAXJA. Sorry to bother you with more tech support about throttle position sensors, but I'm kinda stuck here. I bought my 94 XJ 6cyl/4.0 a few months ago and have had persistent problems with engine code 24. I used to also get the code for bad MAP voltage, but now its just the TPS.
I have...
Hi 5-90, glad to see you posting.
I very recently got into the XJ world and in my search for better battery cables found threads that were many years old saying that you sold some of the best cables around.
Do you still sell those or are they a thing of the past? If not, do you have any...
