Hello. I hope I can state this clearly. I have an 1990 XJ with the 4.0. The issue I am having is when I put the key in and go to start it it just clicks. Then if I turn it very slowly it will start?? It is not an emergency, but I don’t want it to completely fail on me. Anyone know what is wrong...

Thanks for all the information guys! I have an 1990 Cherokee with the I6. The dealership has the part number as 83502746 which I crossed matched it to Napa’s number CRB 2-12305. It was $25.99 but came with all the peices and fixed my problem!

I should have put that down in the post first. I have an 1990 with the 4.0, AW4 auto and the NP242 transfer case. I found a fuse under the passenger side dash. I thought that was the fuse for the trans.

I think so? I have to shift manually and have seemed to have lost 2nd gear. I was told by a local Jeep shop that it was either the fuse or solenoids. The fuse is fine. Thanks for the reply.
