Mirror to glass. Seriously, WHY is it hard?

Here's my $0.02. Windshields have a coating of wax on them- I know from experience, I compounded my windshield when I was just 16, which made the windshield unusable, dirt collected in the pores like mad, and the light from oncoming vehicles was terribly reflected on it. Many long hours of...

    DRB III access available

Just got my hands on a DRB-III, it's quite a useful tool- not one I would ever buy however($3K minimum), but the nature of my work gives me home access to one. Anyone need any advanced diagnostics? I needed it for a simple RKE reprogramming- worked well for that, and some module tests. I don't...

Added LED reverse lights to the XJ-Impressed.

The issue I've run into is finding quality bulbs that will give the proper beam pattern. I've read many threads here about it, probably would go with the trucklites. Right now I have the brightest standard bulbs that Napa had available, Wagner brand. They're OK, but the Sylvania UltraStars in my...

Added LED reverse lights to the XJ-Impressed.

You'd be right, 2000. Iwannadie- I appreciate the input greatly. I was concerned as to the brightness of hr bulbs, I certainly wouldn't put in LED headlights- They are quite bright. Typically I'm just backing up into my garage at night, but when I'm out and about, I'll keep that consideration...

Added LED reverse lights to the XJ-Impressed.

They're plug and play, absolutely no modification necessary. Generally, you'll only need a resistor/etc if replacing turn signal bulbs or brake/turn(or hazard) combo bulbs. J Here's another shot: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Anti theft

I use a 12v pulse based device--You intercept the desired wire(I went with the standard, ignition), and attach the control wire to the desired pulse circuit(wiper, high beam, or add a button). That's my theft "deterrent". I'd like to add a proper anti-theft, to truly immobilize the vehicle...

Added LED reverse lights to the XJ-Impressed.

The eBay listing has "DF-3157" as the part number- eBay item 232334783400. I am not affiliated with the seller of the above eBay item. A google search of "DuraFlux 3157" brings up other sources as well. J Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Added LED reverse lights to the XJ-Impressed.

Here's a stock photo of the bulbs for reference- They arrived as shown, nice neat solder joints and professionally constructed. Not cheap Asian Pacific Rim garbage. I'm not intending to advertise for this company at all, but these bulbs are what convinced a skeptic and known tight-wad to spend...

Added LED reverse lights to the XJ-Impressed.

I didn't take any before pictures, as I was too excited to get these in; nevermind the fact that everybody here probably knows what the stockers look like. LED's on a vehicle CAN be a touchy subject, but I wanted to improve the visibility behind me without having spotlights or what-have-you...

Which parts need to be Mopar?

Oil pressure (sensor) sending unit I try to go Mopar on all sensors, and for everything else if I can afford the difference- for things like spark plugs, or less sensitive parts, I go with whatever came on it from factory. Just everyone else's parts Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Steam coming from under your car’s hood?

Most vehicle manufacturers recommend that when overheating, you increase your idle RPMs by 200-300(aprx) to increase flow while not increasing temperature. By advising people to rev their engine in dead traffic, and that more revs=more cooling, you may be inadvertently directing one to make the...

Rpms dive when coming to a stop

You'd hear it. When braking hard, a quick sound of air is normal(whoosh) as the pedal travels, but shouldn't be constant. If you constantly hear air escaping while holding the brake, it's leaking.

Rpms dive when coming to a stop

That'll work, you can also spray TB cleaner(or anything flammable and somewhat safe on rubber--not brake cleaner). As expected, idle should increase- The elbow connections on mine went first.

    Need XJ Price

Congrats on the little one! I've bought and sold many cars in the Dallas area-- I'd price it at 1500 firm given the current issues- and cross your fingers for the fellow with $1600. Lots of value there still.

    Bad Transmission?

I didn't mention it specifically, but you leave the Jeep run while you check the tranny fluid.

    Bad Transmission?

Checked after it sat? To check tranny fluid, in any auto, first get it to operating temp. Then, while at a stop, shift it from park, through all the gears(allowing them to engage), then back. Pull the dipstick, wipe it, stick it back in, check it. I'm not an expert on the AW4, I'll let someone...

Ideas of what to do with a old Radiator

I second the still. Or, you could make a swamp-cooler for a garage space- of course, you'd need a fan, and a way to circulate the water, but with a water pump and a belt run off the fan, you'd only have one device to power. Fill the system with ice, a fan with shroud to pull the air through a...

Looking for any information on Right hand drive Cherokees

Side note- Some states require a driving test be performed in an RHD vehicle to amend your license for the special circumstance. Aside from what's already been mentioned, I'd consider heavily the amount of idle time on the motor, on top of the probably high mileage, and I'd give the brake...

looking for CB radio info for good choices and set up.

For handheld, I'd go with the Icom IC-V80 HD; there's a sport model as well that runs on AA's. It's a military spec radio from a brand that is quite reliable in my experience, and the non-sport model can be had for as little as $175 NEW on eBay. Furthermore, it's programmable on the go, whereas...

looking for CB radio info for good choices and set up.

For me, the best option was a VHF radio capable of picking up the repeater frequencies, at 144MHz-147MHz or so. Some repeaters are statewide, or more, but your message is out there nonetheless, and anyone who is writing your message down can call 911 for you Some repeaters have the option for...
