URGENT: MIL light 5 hours from home

Mine would come and go, sometimes months at a time without seeing it. I'd swap the solenoid pack out if you get a chance. If the fluid looks clean in the pan, it's probably just an electronic issue. I don't wanna be a downer but I don't want you to get bummed when it comes back (if it does!)

URGENT: MIL light 5 hours from home

Had this same exact issue in my 05 Liberty. Won't strand you or anything for now. When it starts going into limp mode you'll know. The PO700 just means it's a tranny issue not an engine issue. PO740 means torque converter lockup isn't happening when it should. If it's in the early stages...

    Another running hot thread

FWIW, I used to run warm at idle even after a new water pump and t stat, got a new condenser to fix my AC, no more issues. Started getting warm again at idle, new fan clutch and radiator cap solved it. Even in 97 deg heat in traffic with the AC on full blast, never goes above 210. I'd replace...

    Need XJ Price

Yeah, I'd say between 1200 and 2000. I got my 96 Country a few years ago, no body rust but some frame rust, 116k miles for $2900. Only thing that didn't work as AC (hole in condenser). No drive ability issues. Perfect paint and interior. Have a family friend that sold her 00 for 1200 with a...

    Degreasing Engine and Engine Compartment

I just did mine this morning. Gunk and a pressure washer, standing far enough back so only the hard blast part of the pressure washer doesn't hit the engine. Covered up the sensors around the TB and alternator. No issues, fired right up afterwards and ran like nothing happened.

Proper routing for trans cooler line?

Just got both cooler lines replaced. The one that comes from the top of the radiator seems to run close to the efan (underneath it). Is that the right way? Trust, but verify the mechanic's work! It's a 96 4.0 AW4 Country. No tow package, if that makes a difference. Thanks!

    Vinyl for Country seats?

This is too much to repair and have it look good, it's missing pieces. Thanks for the idea though.

Got an AC issue, can I pick some1's brain?

No technical help from me, but I got the gauges from Harbor freight for like $45. Just like the ones at autopart stores for more than double. I think it included a chart.

    Vinyl for Country seats?

Getting the floors and frame redone shortly, wanted to take the down time as a chance to get the driver's seat fixed. It has the gray vinyl/tweed seats. The vinyl is torn...anyone know of a place to get matching vinyl? (not my pic) Thanks!

    Is this rust fixable?

Good news...found a shop that'll fix the frame and floors. They didn't really bat an eye at it!

    Is this rust fixable?

I'll look into the Ruff stuff ones, I'll bring it up to the shop that I'm taking it to for an estimate! Thanks for the help everyone.

    Is this rust fixable?

I need to do something about the rust on my XJ soon or decide to sell it. The body doesn't have a spec of rust anywhere but the undercarriage is a different story. I've only had it 2 years, so way too late for me to prevent any. First major issue is the floors. Holes under each floor mat and...

    Mech fan hitting harmonic balancer

Looked flush to me, the inner hub is the thing directly on the backside of the pulley, correct?

    Mech fan hitting harmonic balancer

New random issue. Mechanical fan is hitting the harmonic balancer pulley, or whatever that big pulley at the bottom is. Swapped the fan clutch for a napa one about 3 weeks ago and it was fine till today. I checked the nuts to make sure they hadn't come loose and they are tight. Belt looks...

Replacing fan clutch...fan hits AC pulley

I took the shroud back out and tried putting it on again and fully tightening it and it fits fine. Shaft is bigger in diameter than the stock one but that's the only big difference. Took it back apart and put the shroud back in. Thankfully a false alarm! I thought holding it on there was suffice...

Replacing fan clutch...fan hits AC pulley

Hi, in the middle of replacing my fan clutch on my 96 4.0 and it's hitting the AC pulley. It's from Napa. Any ideas? Thanks! I've taken the shroud out to just make sure I'm getting it on square and it feels like it's square. The fan isn't backwards either. I marked the back side of it.

    Heater control valve delete help

Very true...thanks for the help! This was BY FAR the best thread on the web for this. To anyone else reading this...here are the part numbers from Autozone for the 97 hose, Dayco brand. E88429 and E87792. 5/8" hose aka the WP hose, goes to the bottom and the 3/4" hose, aka the Tstat hose, goes...

    Heater control valve delete help

Thanks guys. Put my noggin up in there and when I select heat all the way it hits that stop. Is that good to go to make sure that the AC will work good with the delete? Thanks!

Saggy Leaf Springs-Looking for Stock Height

I replaced mine with Dorman ones...rides nice, the back sits a little higher than the front now though. Front springs are probably sagged a bit.

    Heater control valve delete help

Hi, sorry to necro a "less recent" thread, but I'm curious as to how to ensure the blend door is working on my 96 Country. Planning on doing the HCV delete and just want to make sure the blend door seals tight before doing the delete. I get heat and AC just fine, so it's working it seems, just...
