I had the same issue in NY in the summer a few years ago, I replaced the fan clutch and it solved the issue. Even though it spins it doesn't mean it's okay.
@TIM_MN do you drop the pan or use the drain plug, last time i tried the drain plug i stripped it plus the washer was eaten up. I tried using a generic washer and insert the plug I killed the thread and had to replace the thread. Now i have the correct washer but am scared to touch the plug...
I had almost the exact same issue, I can almost guarantee the wiring got destroyed by the drive shaft. Follow the harness wiring and you'll see the wires got rubbed out and is sitting on the driveshaft. I put them together with wire butt connectors and all is good now.
