Electric fan runs constantly due to previous owner wiring in a relay by the fuse box.
When this relay is disconnected the electric fan stops.
With the extra relay disconnected - disconnect the coolant sensor...
Is this an electric fan MOD to make the fan run constantly?
The electric fan comes on when the ignition key is turned on and runs constantly until the ignition key is turned off.
I think I verified that this added relay is a bypass for the electric fan.

Generally speaking, is it acceptable to use solderless connectors to attach new/replacement harness connector ends? (presuming the connectors are crimped correctly and insulated with shrink tubu and or electrical tape)
Example: to cut off and attach the connector for the coolant temp sensor in...
one of the ignition connectors on my 92 XJ is melted and broken. found it when I went to change out the malfunctioning switch.
I was going to obtain another connector from a donor XJ and then use crimped solderless connectors and tape or shrink tube to insulate.

how much does the steering stabilizer influence the resistance felt in steering?
In my 93 XJ 4.0 auto the steering has some firm resistance, not hard or anything, just a firm controlled feel to it.

I searched but did not find this exact issue with any resolution.
1992 XJ 4dr with TILT steering.
No previous issues with steering wheel lock/ignition switch.
key would go in.
key would turn to ACC
key would not turn forward to start.

1988 White XJ 4DR 4X4 4.0 auto Laredo PW PS located in Tulsa OK.
Runs Good with some typical XJ issues.
Rear Main Seal needs to be replaced.
Slight occasional idle change but does not die or over rev.
Paint is in Fair shape.
some small holes in seats carpet is very used.

what is it that controls the resistance in steering?
I have a 92 briarwood that has easy turning of the steering wheel.
My other 2 jeeps (92 and 93 xjs) have steering that has more resistance.
The first is not loose or anything, it just does not have the resistance/control of the others.

power seats click but will not move forward or backward when switch is activated. You can hear the motor run and clicking. seat will tilt back and forth as well as up and down when the respective switches are activated.
are the motor/gears shot?

idles at approx 750 rpm. the idles up to about 900 rpm then back down to 750, then back to 900. cycle repeats itself, and does it if I hold the throttle up (ie hold throttle at 1000 rpm, it will idle up to approx 1150 and continue that cycle)

I installed an intake/exhaust gasket on my old motor and ran it literally less than 30 minutes. It has been on there for 3 weeks just sitting.
I am pulling the intake/header and putting on donor engine....can I reuse the gasket or get a new one?
I loosened 1 head bolt at each end of the head...
is the oilpan strong enough to support the weight of the engine if set on the ground?
or
should something be used to hold it/how should I set it down?

I have the one piece oilpan gasket. do I need to use rtv?
Actually I already put it on. If I should re-do it with rtv..........can I reuse the gasket?
engine is on a stand and has not been run.

On a 93 XJ 4.0:
If I replace the oil pump, do I HAVE TO replace the pick up screen tube assembly too?
I understand there is a special tool required to install the tube?

I am not too familiar with this aspect so thought I would ask..I did search, but did not find much.
pulled the oil pan off a 93 4.0 with about 165000 + miles on it.
there were some metal shavings in the bottom of the pan. Not alot, just some. some appear to not be magnetic.
