What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

Inspections stink! Replaced the distributor yesterday, runs better and doesn't sound like a banshee on startup. Did notice a bit of wear on the shaft where it goes into the oil pump though. Guess I should at least think about changing it too...always something...

Oil pressure drops under hard acceleration

Thanks guys. Think it may be the sender not sure, drove it a little yesterday and it was not doing it. Thought about it and realized it only started the issue after being warm for a while, 1hr trip. My bewilderment is still why would it only act up under hard acceleration. So right now i will...

Oil pressure drops under hard acceleration

Just got back from a 600mile round trip with no issues. Now today when I drove the Jeep the oil pressure was dropping to nothing under hard acceleration. No other symptoms other than the check gauge light and the drop on the pressure gauge. If you take it easy the pressure stays up. Ideas...

What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

Pics of that cargo area UncleSarge? Sounds like a cool project. An 8" wide board would likely be cheaper than the plywood. Just thin some two part epoxy with acetone to use as a finish and coat it so when it gets wet or muddy it is good to go. I have some LVL I think....I t is 52" I will...

Next Planned Event 4 Our Chapter?

Was up not far from Mena but in SE Oklahoma around Thanksgiving. A little closer at 3hrs but well worth the drive. Idk if I could make it, but would love to. I am still gathering parts for my lift. Sarge is spot on with the description of the area, beautiful.

What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

Probably definitely the ujoint. May replace the hub too since it has to come off anyway. At 240k probably prudent anyway... Islander I think I have axle envy now.

    Happy Thanksgiving y'all!

Mine was awesome as well. Took the week my boys and the jeep on a hunting trip. Got to use it for it's real purpose, put a little blood in the back and had a high ole time. Wired a sewing room for Mom and ate plenty of great food

What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

Love the noises...got a sqeak sqeak sqeak at low speeds in a turn more so on the left turn than right but there on both. Only does it under 15mph....hub?ujoints? Anything else to check? clearly from the front. Also where the heck does the did vent tube in the front usually route? I pulled it...

What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

Ha just Got to Mom's in the Jeep after a five day hunting trip just on the edge of the Ouachita National forest. Only problem I have had was the axle vent tube pulled loose from the firewall. Haven't lifted it or put new mt's on it yet, but it handled everything it was pointed at with street...

Broke down in the back country while hunting (HELP)

Yep and injectors are more like a precisely timed valve no pressure behind them means a drop at best gets through.

Man I thought you had it about where you want it. Hope all is well for you and yours. I got my new cat on today, what a PITA oh well it runs a whole lot better. Amazing what they can do when they can breathe. Should have ordered a muffler too, guess I will sometime. Taking it on a three...

What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

Cheap ha, I have found a full length aal set for $60...probably sag like grandma with it though. I got my cat out last night to find the inlet is flared to the same diameter of the pipe...ugh...hopefully I can fix that tonight...gotta have the jeep by Friday!

Continue with Bastard Build or buy new?!?!

I am doing a similar, budget friendly, what I want approach. I have started by trimming first, added 1.5-2" shackles. I picked up used 5.5" springs weighing full length aal bastard pack or just lift leafs for the rear. I will likely wind up with shackle relocation brackets soon. Plan on...

    The Lab Rat - SFR's R&D Comanche

∆ Hinge and pin or an old school plate bracket where it flipped down to access the gas cap.

What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

Hope it is indeed the sensor causing the issue, and glad you figured the brakes out. Put cap rotor wires and coil on the jeep. Made a difference no telling when the last set was put on. Also put the shackles on without a problem at all, the last couple of weeks with pb blaster did it's job...

    The Lab Rat - SFR's R&D Comanche

Just ship me the first test kit I will give it a go, no welding table and a bummed 110 welder from a buddy. Haven't welded for years, but did a lot growing up, mostly farm stuff should make a good rookie test. I'll ship you a longbow or recurve in trade, lol.

    odd steering wheel question

Wrap it in electrical tape and go to eBay and order a stitch on wheel cover. Don't remove the leather that's left just tape over it then cover it.

What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

Mike are the rotors warped? I know they are new, but most times I've hade the pulsing it has been warped rotors. But usually you feel it in the wheel a little too. Noise hmm mine has a few noises...

    Plan change ha...shock?

26.7-16.2 rear 27.8-17.2 front. These numbers are from an off the shelf kit. My plan is bpe's so I am guessing an inch off the rears and 2" off the fronts, this means ford ranger rear shocks may be a good starting point at $15 each to work out the kinks they are just over 25" extended and have...

    Plan change ha...shock?

Yes I searched just couldn't find a ballpark length. Lot of back and forth measure first...I just want close for street driving/fine tuining cause wife dd's it more than her SUV. Original plan was a 2" budget boost for the time being, that flew out the door yesterday. Wound up with a pair of...
