    Machining OEM wheels

Thanks everyone. Noise isn’t anything damaged - I’ve had the diffs opened, regeared, new shafts, etc. - I’m just really particular. I had a CJ7 with manual hubs and always liked the noise reduction I got when unlocked. Made for a noticeably quieter ride. Good points about lockers, I had a brain...

    Machining OEM wheels

Regarding why I want them - I use my XJ for camping and the noise reduction of shutting off the front end is worth it for the hours I spend on the highway. I've got an Ox in the rear, and would also like an auto locker in front...turning that off on the road would be nice, too.

    Machining OEM wheels

I would like to add manually locking hubs to my XJ, but I really don't want to give up my stock wheels. The hub diameter is larger than the stock center hole. Does anyone done or heard of doing this?

    Suggestions for undercoating?

Fluid Film every year. It isn't permanent, but it doesn't require a lot of tedious prep work. I have a 98 with zero rust b/c of the product.

    Joel's multipurpose XJ build (rocks/boulevard)

Sister lives on the Big Island, Waimea. I visit every 2-3 years. I really like your build thread. I’ve got two daughters, too, and plan to carry over some of your ideas to the next phase of my XJ build.

RC 3" Lift - Sagging Leafs? Need opinions on where to go from here.

I had the same set of springs and switched to OME after encountering the same problem. RC stuff was of much lower quality...will not buy again. OME is stiff, bit seems to ride better with some gear in the back.

    Rear Differential Leak

I've had a very slight leak coming from my rear differential. Last Summer I swapped out my D35 for a used 8.25. It was a little crusty, but structurally intact...or so I thought. The leak appears to be seeping from the connection point of the left rear axle tube and the pumpkin. I spent a...

Pre-Production Sneak Peak at Boostwerks Comp Mount

Really like this idea...wondering if those of use that already have invested in nice aftermarket bumpers could mount a second fairlead in said bumper? Would keep winch hidden and not waste the previous investment. How low would the fairlead sit? Mind taking a measurement for those of us...

    Aftermarket Driveshafts

Now you all have me worried about my TW driveshafts. The biggest pain with TW is greasing the center grease point. Is this the same on Tatton's? The front DS center grease point is really hard to get to.

    Good Undercoating/Rust Prevention Methods?

I do the same and end up covered in FF and sore as hell with road rash on my shoulder blades from shimmying around. I have a FF set of clothes now that stay in the basement b/c of the smell!

Just starting out - Advice Pls

I'd get new springs - add a leaf is not going to fix the fact that the original springs are shot. Old Man Emu has great leaf packs and shocks. They are also meant for rigs that are loaded down, in case you want to do any camping. I just want to add that a lot of what you do depends on your...

    Good Undercoating/Rust Prevention Methods?

I really wish I had a car lift so I could just walk under my Jeep and spray Fluid Film. I am going to look into the electric sprayer next time I apply. It really is a Jeep saver in Boston. Others living here can attest to the fact that our roads can look like gravel roads with all the salt...

Just starting out - Advice Pls

If you want to keep it simple, I'd follow ehall's advice. I went to 3.5" and 31s and it started a chain reaction of modifications. Your stock leaf springs are probably shot - new ones will do a lot in the lift department. As far as rubbing -a new front bumper can do wonders for both...

some injector questions and advice please

Would these work with a '98? I like the idea of buying new injectors over eBay/salvage yard finds.

No Cut/No Drill Wider Fender Flares?

I am in precisely the same position. I have been considering the expensive option of having a local shop help fabricate them out of metal to fit exactly as the stock ones but be flat and wider. I have a really clean 98 that I don't want to start hacking on just yet.

good independent XJ shop in OC, CA?

I can't help you in SoCal, but if anyone in New England is looking for a great 4x4 shop with an appreciation for XJs, I can't say enough about Elias 4x4. I did the hard stuff with Lou Kiklis, the owner, and it turned out great.

    Brakes and Lockers, good times

OX. Expensive but will last forever. And it is fun to have a top secret lever (if you go manually actuated).

    Good Undercoating/Rust Prevention Methods?

Fluid Film 100%. It is cheap, easy to apply, and not permanent. My recommendation is to either get a gallon of it or spray from the rattle can into cup of some sort. Then brush it on in the larger areas. For irregular areas or hard to brush spots just use a gloved hand or rag to apply it...
