Hi. Just dropped the oil pan to replace the rear seal (94 XJ) and noticed there are two stripping bolt holes. Anybody got any quick fixes for that aside from heli coils?

    Tranny Pan Leak: Stripped Threads

Hi. The auto tranny pan on my 94 is leaking and so I plan to replace and reset the gasket. About 5 of the screws were loose but that did not cure the leak. Also one of the bolt locations, right in the middle, front-to-back, has stripped threads. Some animal really did a job on this. Grrr...

Yeah, I'm thinking of hitting the welding store and get some stinger wire and connectors and making breakaways for the front and rear anyhow.

Mile Marker Winch and Hitch Cradle

Hi. Just received a mile marker 8000 lb winch and their hitch mounted cradle that is specified for it. Well, the mount is such that the electric box won't fit where they intedn it to fit. I suppose I could do some fabrication and relocate the box and/or the winch on the cradle, barrign any good...

Fortunately I'm not trying to pull the bearing. Should just pop out though, no?

    Axle Shaft Seals

Man, they just won't budge. Tried several different screwdriver sizes...and this is on a 2001 XJ axle.

To Gasket sealer or not to Gasket Sealer?

5-90, the question just pertained to the oil pan gasket itself. Rear seal itself is back in an torqued. Thanks for the reply.

To Gasket sealer or not to Gasket Sealer?

Hi all. Just replaced the rear seal on the 94XJ. Looking at the one piece NAPA gasket and thinking it doesn't need the red gasket goop. But I then think it wouldn't hurt. At worst it would seem a good idea to put the stuff on the rear part so it won't slip while installing. Humble opinions anyone?

    XJ Axle numbers

I've come across a freebie. An axle off of an XJ. The only think I know about it is the marks on the two tabs it has. One says 35 and the other 6826. Any idea what I've got?

What to do with a 27 spline 8.25

I've just acquired a free 27 spline 8.25. Its very complete including brakes and drums. I'm thinking of swapping it into my 94 XJ, equipping it with a Detroit locker and running it until it breaks. If it breaks. Currently running it with 32" tires on a 4.5" lift. Seems like a cheap way to get...

    27 to 29 spline conversion

We just acquired a freebie 27 spline Corp 8.25 complete unit. What's involved in converting it to a 29? Is there a How-To out there to point me at? Is it worth the trouble vis-a-vis just getting a 29 spline complete unit? Thanks, in advance.

    94 XJ Wheels question

I'm told by others that a 7" wheel will hold the bead in air-down situations better than an 8" wheel. So we trade off tire wear for off road flexibility?

    Stock Axle

Just got a 94 XJ Sport. Its stock. For now. I assumed its read axle is a Corp 8.25 but thought I'd better ask. Is there a web page somewhere that'll help ID it?

    94 XJ Wheels question

Thnaks. We're looking at putting on 285-75R16s after the lift. We currently have those 15x7s. We're shopping for wheels that'll fit on the bolt pattern but just didn't know what to ask for.

    94 XJ Wheels question

Hi. First ever post here. Just bought a 94 XJ Sport that's basically stock and ready ot build up. It has 15" wheels on it and will upgrade those to 16x7. Question is: when buying the 16" wheels what bolt pattern do I describe to the tire dealer? Are there other model years and Jeep models with...
