I have a question about safely removing S10 leaf springs at the junkyard, which I've never done before.
I'm hoping to do a junkyard lift on my '91 XJ. I received my Rusty's 3" HD coils for the front yesterday. And I was hoping to start the bastard pack today.
My son and I found 6 possible...
Turned out to be the ignition switch on the top of the steering column. I replaced it tonight and so far the Jeep starts every time. Thanks again for all the comments.
Great info. Thank you!
So, I replaced the starter and cleaned and tightened every connection in the starter circuit, put it all back together and the problem persists.
Even though the starter tested good, I replaced it anyway because whoever previously replaced it stripped the threads on...
I just now got back from having the starter tested. It tested good. I'm about to clean the starter connections and reinstall it.
Then I'll check all the ignition circuit connections that I can ... focusing on the ground connections.
If the problem persists, I'll have the new battery tested...
Thanks for the responses!
The battery's ground cable is new. I also replaced the positive and negative terminals on both battery cables.
The positive cable could be severely corroded under the insulation. I didn't think of that one.
I will check the positive battery lead, the starter...
Hi All,
This morning I started my '91 XJ then shut it off. Now it won't start.
I turn the key forward and the motor does one (1) short crank. I turn the key off, and again one (1) short crank, but it sound like a reverse crank.
Here's a short video of what's happening...
Does anyone know where I can get a Fin Sensor Cycling Clutch Switch? I tried to pull two from XJs at a local salvage yard, but they both broke. The wire gets pulled from the copper tube when the tube snaps off the sensor casing.
This is the Fin Sensor Cycling Clutch Switch in the heater box...
Thanks for the replies! I did finally figure it out. There are no fog lights mounted. But there was a single, small spot light mounted on the driver side roof rack that I ripped off when I got the Jeep home. The tan and black wire came up out of the cowl and ran across the windshield to the...
Awesome. I didn't think of that. Thank you!
I can't find where they connect to. They may not have been connected to anything.
For now I will isolate each spade terminal with some heat-shrink tubing to prevent any shorts.
Thanks again!
Hi All,
Can anyone tell me what these two wires are and where they go?
I am reinstalling my dash. Apparently I did not label these two wires, though they are attached to the fog light switch connector which I did label.
I'm working on a 1991 XJ (Laredo)
Thank you!
Chris
Awesome info. Thanks for the links. Just knowing which model tranny was a huge help. I googled "AW4" and also found a bunch of great info.
Thanks again.
Hi,
I wonder if someone would explain to me the differences between Jeep XJ 4WD and 2WD transmissions?
I ask because I have a 2WD XJ. I got it for $400. It runs strong. It has low mileage. I've done bunch of work to it, including making the doors removable. The body is in great shape. I was...
