    thoughts on front axel swap?

currently putting upgraded brakes in my '88 XJ, while it's at the shop I'm debating swapping out the front axle-- it's a rebuilt d30 w/ detroit locker and 4.11 gears -- I had it "beefed" up back in the day, but for the life of me I can't remember exactly what I did... that said, I'm running...

17" big brake upgrade for XJ?

currently running a vanco/black magic upgrade on my xj, the one for 15" rims. Braking on the trails is sporting --- in 4lo, with my setup (zz6 motor/4.11 gears, 35"tires), when crawling the brakes fight to hold on. I'm looking into getting a bigger, "big brake" upgrade. Since I'll likely have...

poor braking at low rpms --

turning my attention back to my 88 xj... I'm running 35's, front axle is a d30 w/ 27 spline tru track (was done so long ago I forget what else we did -- definitely re geared to 4.11). Running a vanco brake upgrade for 15" wheels, and a late model master/booster. At low rpm, brakes are really...

    Backup Camera for trailering

Been messing around with various solutions for a backup camera while trailering... I've tried around a dozen different setups.. if you're interested, this is a very decent setup-- fairly high resolution (full HD), camera is good at night, and most important to me, very little delay...

rear view camera mount to go over large spare tire -- fabbed and installed

Got tired of not being able to see out of my review mirror (thanks to the 35" m/t on the rear tire carrier) had rare couple of hours free this weekend , so welded up a quick-and-dirty mount for a review camera to sit on top of the tire, wired into my double-din video in -- works great! (thinking...

    replacing seals around window...

complete newb question … was trying out a different rune profile on my motor last night, and noticed that the seals -- the exterior rubber whether stripping that frames the window-- around the door windows are all shot (I had rolled my truck two years ago, the doors are all donors). since I've...

    cowl induction hood?

thinking of adding one -- zz6 swap going in this weekend, and the intake is a lot taller than my old edlebrock on my 350... I know I can get a shorter intake, but even on a low-profile intake the cleaner is hitting the hood.. just want to see what's out there, and any thoughts, thanks!

finally pulled the trigger... chevy 350 zz6 swap for my '88 xj..

Dropped in a 350 SBC into my '88 xj years ago, been itching to get something a bit more potent and modern. A blown head-gasket on the current SBC pushed me over the edge... Picked up a zz6 long block last week, starting the swap this week, should be a relatively straight-forward swap.. will...

help me diagnose this wiring gremlin

brought my truck to get inspected, shop fails b/c no rear running lights. I get home, pop out the (blown) fuse, pop a new one in, same size, everything works great. OK, just an every day, normal xj thing. Shop said they tried replacing fuses, I figure they were just blowing me off.. Anyway, I...

recently ripped out practically the entire interior in my xj in preparation for a roll cage, while I was at it decided to rewire (battery is in the back, lots of messy wires that needed to be cleaned up). Got everything re-connected and working , but for the life of me couldn't get the fuel...

12 volt compressor -- solenoid or relay?

I have a 12 volt, 3/4 hp puma compressor in my cherokee I use to air up. I currently have it connected to a solenoid, which is connected to a switch. IS there any reason I need to use the solenoid, or to keep things simple, can I just use a high-amp relay?

    mounting on board air tank?

any ideas? recently cleared out the cargo area of my xj, getting ready for a d&c cage install, I kind of like the area clear. I have the battery mounted in the back, already have a compressor and tank, but debating leaving the compressor/tank out to give me more room. Any creative thoughts on...

turned into an all day, rip-the-carpet-out, grind rust, re-run EVERY wire I hid over the past 20 years... surprisingly, was not as badly rusted as I thought.
