    TC lockup hack

And most "U Pull it" junk yards I have seen they are running the mid $100's....like $145 or $169. You have to do the work, but if you mess it up it won't cost ya!

    Airbag light no codes??????

I have a 99 XJ, when I brought it home, the airbag light was on. A regular OB11 scanner will not detect or reset the airbag light. The way I understood it, it is a parts issue. In other words you have a bad part in the airbag system if your airbag light is on. I checked with a auto repair...

2000 XJ runs great one night, and next morning cranks but won't start

Those CPS are finicky :) Sometimes they go out intermittently and sometimes they go out in the dead of night! Glad you found the problem!

ISO Replacement Leaf Springs - OEM Quality -

I have a set of the heavy duty Crowns in my shop now. They are destined for my 99XJ in the near future. I will get them in and then figure how much I need in the front to level out.

    Faulty Fan?

Whoops, I misread Tim's post! Adjust accordingly! LOL I was driving from ABQ to AMA one day a few years ago when I lost my alternator. I was unfamiliar with the towns in between and what was available there, so I was hell bent to make AMA just on battery power alone. With all electric...

    Faulty Fan?

I may be wrong and my memory aint what it used to be, but the 9 bladed electric fan just about blocks air flow at highway speeds. A google search would probably lead you to some real life experiences posted. I have not ever used all electric fans. As Tim posted, the mechanical fan moves...

    Faulty Fan?

I would stick to a mechanical fan. You know it works and it will pull more air at slower speeds. There are posts all over the internet about people replacing them with electric and then have overheating issues mostly at highway speeds. Remember, you will have to change the bearings anyway...

Post your black Friday deals here.

Since HomeDepot popped up, if you need a hoss of a impact for junkyard runs, the 20 volt Dewalt 1/2" impact with bag, battery and charger for only $199 may fit the bill! Mine will be delivered on the 23rd...

    AW4/30-43LE Transmission Leak

It takes time :( I don't know enough about the AW4 to even comment on your problem. And I have a 99 XJ with the A4 :) Might want to join and post over at the Cherokee forums. They have a higher traffic count, I think but it could still be a while to get a response.

Seen the Black Bear roll-over yet.....

The highest I have driven is just East of Bayfield in the San Juan Range, elk hunting. We camped at 9600 feet. The XJ never gave me problems but one year I had to change U-joints in the snow and another I had to change the alternator (pain in the butt) up the mountain. Don't think I would...

Seen the Black Bear roll-over yet.....

I wouldn't have to worry about brakes, it would be my knees getting weak. As I age, my respect for heights has turned into a fear :( :)

Seen the Black Bear roll-over yet.....

I have a good friend that works for San Miguel County SO rescue. He has told me about some of the back trails to get to Silverton from Montrose. I won't be travelling them, that is for sure!

    New Jeep...new problems!

Forgot we can't edit posts (whats up with that?) Anyway, when your O2 sensors are out your PCM will enrichen the fuel mix as it reads the system is lean when its really not. That causes a BIG dropoff in fuel mileage and could be why you smelled gas. I recently picked up a 99XJ and had a bad...

Door lock rods 1997 Jeep XJ

Adz, I am not kidding.....if you need them, just let me know. I will probably be making a trip late this week anyway. If the rods from a 99 will work, I know they have them or at least did. I got the window regulator/motor out of the driver's door and it was there then. My wife calls me a...

Door lock rods 1997 Jeep XJ

Up here, a junkyard is the best place. Down there, I don't know. If you are about ready to give up finding them....send me a PM and I will see what the local U Pull it has. Won't be a quick fix due to our distance apart and postal services.

    Tie Rod End Boots

As with the boots on ball joints, I don't know where you would find just the boots. If you did, I would think the joint would have to be removed to get a new one on anyway. So might as well measure/count the rotations and change them out.

    Ball Joint Boots

My apology for misreading your question but I am afraid the answer is basically the same. If your ball joint boot is bad, the only way to replace one would be to remove the ball joint anyway. So, you might as well change the whole thing. (don't know where you would find just the boot). When...
