The oil/grease is most likely from the tape they used to bundle the wires.

I'm not 100% sure, but I'm almost positive that my '94 (automatic) doesn't have a bulb in that socket. I'd assume that it's controlled by the ECU or TCU though, so even if you were to stick a bulb in there, it still wouldn't work.

Good choice... there is nothing bad about them! Best car in its class and you can't beat the diesel's efficiency. If I was in the market for a $25k sedan, I'd get one.

Same story here... ASC pump from Autozone on a '94 and I installed it last March (also replaced the t-stat and housing, and all new hoses, too). No problems so far.

'95 was the first year for the driver-side airbag. The 1995+ has different seatbelts, too... a narrower plate, and the latch assemblies have the big orange release buttons. You can swap the vent windows for the fixed windows if you'd really like... many people complain that they're noisy and...
