Heater no go, and it's getting cold!

'93 Ford Escort. Standard everything. 62-years old lady car. One day, this summer, the fan blower just stopped working. Fuse is fine, power to the switch, no power out. I jump the switch with a wire and viola, fan is on. "Ok", bad switch. I replace it. No difference. There are 4 wires...

    vehicle inspection anxiety

Emissions is critical in the Eu, a stumble means excess emissions, readable excess emissions is not acceptable. They take the plates immediately. I have verified no fuel leakage, good timing. Maybe incomplete combustion, overly rich condition. Plugs show as clean though. I maybe thought the...

    o2 problem?

Thanks, didn't know that, good to know. But what can be done to check a single-wire o2 sensor? Measure voltage at the terminal with the engine running hot?

    unhappy diesels

I didn't know it then, but now I do. Diesels will run on motor oil as fuel. So adding oil to the cylinders to make it run doesn't mean bad rings, it means bad fuel pump!

    vehicle inspection anxiety

I live in Finland. I drive a '91 Honda 1.3L. We have tight vehicle inspection. 1) I have a stumble at 2k rpm, don't know why. This will cause me to fail the test. 2) I smell raw fuel whenever the car is running. no obvious cause. this also will fail 3) How do I check my o2 sensor? I must...

    o2 problem?

I searched, and searched, and searched some more. No luck. How can I test my o2 sensor with a multimeter?

    ignition switch fire

Thanks everyone, sounds like just a bad switch. Just wanted to be somewhat sure that if I replace it with a new one, it won't just flame up right away again, or cause a major fire..

    ignition switch fire

So generally, theoretically, in any make or model, what can make the electrical side of an ignition switch to smoke and catch on fire? Switch failure and external causes must both be addressed. Please offer insight...I got a kid in this car, I need to know for sure to prevent a major...

    Ignition switch likes it hot!

And, what might kill that switch? It looks suspiciously newish....Owner is useless.

    Ignition switch likes it hot!

And a little update: I verified there are 4 wires and associated terminals at the ign. switch. Fat red, clean 12V power, no continuity to ground with the battery disconnected and no longer connected to the ign. switch. Fat Black, good clean ground, continuity and no resistance. The other 2...

    Ignition switch likes it hot!

Allright, I'm going to bite the bullet and admit that although I USED to be a proffessional mechanic, I seem to have lost a lot of mechanical "instinct" since brain surgery. S. here's the prblem, hopefully there's a straight solution to it: 1984 Opel something, basically like a '84 Chevy...

    Amount of Paint required?

DanMan, thanks a lot. Just the facts, man....I'm on it, I'll let you know the outcome

    Amount of Paint required?

Well, all your thoughts have been helpful, but here I have limited access to any of the stuff you recommend, I live 13 miles from Russia. My best bet appears to be rattle cans at 4 euros or 5.25 dollars each, called "Reparationslak". The drawing on the can shows a man spraying a front quarter...

"I'd trust Detroit faster than the Devil"

A quote from The Amityville Horror 1979. In reference to steering failure on a priest's car. And brake failure. And acting failure.

    Amount of Paint required?

so depending on the paint I choose, ultimately I need 1 gallon of liquid to spray, is that correct?

    Amount of Paint required?

Thank you! A gallon is a hard unit to find in Europe, guess I'll take 4 liters (2 jokes in there)

    Amount of Paint required?

I tried searching, no luck. I have painted my old XJ with rattle cans, years ago, and can't remember how much I used. Currently (sorry) I am preparing to paint my 2 door civic with a single stage, scuff and spray, with a gun. Any suggestions as to how much paint I will need? 1 gallon?

service techs caught on camera joyriding a customers car

Yes in agreement to most arguments here. I worked for a small shop with a great reputation and a very honest owner, and a car would not usually begin its repair without a test drive. Many customers had older/higher mileage vehicles and we would put it through its paces before and after...

    Lawsuit

Oh, here we go...Try Russians as a subsitute for Mexicans, every country has there own MEXICAN MENACE, we have the russians. Same results, Same pain in the ass, same outcome, but I understand what they are trying to accomplish. Also, I dont own borderland, so its easy to view from a distance...
