Notice when I quoted you it had nothing to do with your description of the LS function. I agree with you %100 on the frt./rr. diffs and their differences. What I don't neccessarily agree with you on is that the 03 up housing is the same as the 44 housings that came before that, and in other...
And what about the non-TJ hsgs. then? I agree they're the same between Rubi and non-rubi on 03-up TJ's. I stated so in my first post. The question is did the dimensions change from a pre 03 model TJ, or as the original question stated, an XJ 44.
And do they shim all of them outside the...
The helical gear type LS's don't have clutch packs. So they don't neccesarily feel like a clutch type LS when spinning by hand. They will spin relatively when there is very little load. I quit the dealer just as the Rubi's came out, so I never got my hands into one. But I have serviced...
This will probably confuse the situation more, but I'll share anyway. I bought a new Mopar TJ 44 hsg. to replace my 35. I also bought a Super 44 kit from Superior. I had a lot of trouble getting the correct shim kit to make it work. After finally getting the backordered shim kit, it still...
Checked the oil level in the case? In part time, any difference in frt to rr tire rollout puts stress on the chain. If its low on oil, it will be noisy.
They both have a part time mode, meaning they can operate on loose or low traction surfaces, but not full time on high traction surface. The 242 also incorporates a differential in the case that allows full time operation on high traction surfaces with no binding. As far as swapping to the...
If you can pull the dist. yourself and replace it, you can probably fix it yourself. The drive gear on the bottom is retained with a roll pin. Once that is off, you can remove the shaft from the hsg. and clean and lube it, polish it if its too tight.
HEGO - Heated Exhaust Gas Oxygen - Sensor. In my opinion the aftermarket performance headers are not worth the money. They still crack like the stock manifold, which is also a tubular header technically. No substantial performance increase, and evenwith the Borla million mile warranty, don't...
Yes, I have four or five that I kept for spares that made a high pitched squeak from just under the cam sensor. The bushing gets tight and in some cases you will have a hard time turning the dist. shaft with it out of the engine. I have actually seen them sieze and take the teeth of the dist...
Nope, its an overhead cam engine. Nothing in common with the Jeep engines. However, from the performance standpoint, they are more friendly than the Jeep engine. Mopar performance has all kinds of stuff for them. Turbo version putting out over 300hp.
If this is a phantom coolant leak, this is where to look. Typically you will see the white/green crusty residue under the oil fill cap toward the back side.
The original system on that vintage used a boost pump in combination with an accumulator for power assist. That served to provide the pressure for ABS function but also was required for the base brakes to work properly. trying to integrate a later model ABS might be more work than its worth...
Are you sure the head wasn't leaking from the valve cover? In any case, machining the head surface will increase comp ratio slightly which could make a small difference in power.
Same pattern, but as people have noted, thinner blades. My factory connector fits fine, just tweaked the bulb terminals a little to tighten up the fit.
I would like a frt 44 for one reason, lower available gearing. I've never had a problem w/ the unit hubs. Simpler to service, easier to swap shafts if you have to. D30 outer can easily be swapped for WJ parts and you get brakes equivalent to 1/2 ton stuff.
