    Replacement for factory foglights?

I'm trying to help my son get his 2001 XJ into decent shape. The factory foglights need to be replaced - one doesn't work and the other has the glass smashed out. Maybe my google-fu is weak but I can't seem to find replacements. Ideally I'd like to find something that's plug & play and will fit...

Access to the upper rear shackle mount?

Hi all - my upper rear shackle mount is making just too much noise -- I've been spraying it with penetrating lube for 2 years but that only lasts a couple days. I want to take it out to either grease it for real, or replace the bushing. My concern is that from a visual inspection it doesn't look...

    LED replacement foglight?

Anyone know a good BRIGHT LED foglight replacement that will fit in the factory spot? This is an '01 Sport. Too bright for street use is fine. It's my son's car and he has minimal tools and nowhere to work while he's at college, so I'm looking to stick with the stock wiring and mounts if possible.

Where would you take this XJ for tranny work?

'01 Sport auto 4x4 has developed a big vibration under accelerating, smooth as glass when cruising or decelerating. I'm afraid it's the tranny. Would you take it to a Jeep shop or a transmission shop like AAMCO?

This does not look too good to me… Identify?

This shot was taken from behind the front diff looking forward. What is (or was) that hose going into it, which appears to have been completely shorn away for some time?

Help! Need a quick, clever jerry can carrying suggestion

Hey everyone - My son & I are just about to take off on a camping trip in Death Valley where the distances require auxiliary fuel. We're taking his 2001 XJ that has stock bumpers, no hitch, and factory roof rack rails. We're going to bring my big military plastic fuel cans from my JK, and...

    Whining alternator

The whining noise from my alternator makes the engine at least twice as loud as it should be. It seems to work OK though. I assume the bearings are starting to go. Is there any way to quiet this thing down without dropping $125 for a rebuilt replacement?

How to lube the rear shackles????

It's getting pretty hard to live with all the creaking from the rear shackles. I have been able to mediate this a tiny bit by squirting WD-40 at them, but it doesn't last long. I can't see any way to get any decent grease into those things. Is there a way to do this?

Too much play in the steering column

My son's 2001 4WD 4.0 auto has a 3" lift on 31s and tracks straight, alignment seems good. But the steering wheel is about a quarter turn off center, and the play in the steering column is really too much for safe handling. I've looked underneath while he turns the wheel back-and-forth, and...

How to get a cheap hitch receiver

Unfortunately my 2001 does not have a hitch receiver, and I want one for a bike rack or light towing and as a rear recovery point. What's the cheapest way to add one?

    OK to disconnect rear shackle?

I've never taken off a leaf spring before, so forgive me if this is a stupid question. If I disconnect my rear shackle in order to lubricate everything, will I be able to get it back on, or will I need to borrow Captain America to bend the leaf back into place?

    Automatic climate control?

Hey, just wondering if XJs ever came with auto CC, or if a unit from a Grand might fit and connect and work.

How to get a discontinued part: speed control vacuum harness

My speed control vacuum harness (that little 8-inch hose that goes between the vacuum line and the servo) is crumbled - not patchable. It's MOPAR 52078082 and, as luck would have it, it's the one part of the speed control system no longer available. I searched and searched as many...

Rolled '99 wants to belong to you, free!

First time poster, recommended by a friend at a So Cal 4WD shop who has been a member here for many years. We rolled a beautiful '99 XJ Classic, and the insurance totaled it. We had just put on a 3" Trail Master lift kit and new tires. I'm looking for anyone in Orange County who will take the...
