I think that this is a great idea. I also didn't build my jeep to bash it on the rocks but for long distance trips and back road exploring. I used Gojeep for a model for most of my modifications and plan to do many more as time allows. Now that I live in Arizona there are so many places to...
Wooden drawers
I'm the guy with the wooden drawers at the Show and shine.
I have about 200$ in the whole thing including good quality carpet. The unit is about 8" tall, about the same height as the top of the rear wheel wells. It's built in two sections so I can take the front unit out and...
Thanks Fergie, Yucca Man and Michael. I'll check out all of your leads. Michael I'm living in the east side, I found a decent apt only 2 miles from where I'll be working. Let me know about any local activities and I'll try to hook up with you. If you spot a dark green lifted 99 Xj with...
Arrived in Tucson last wensday and just got phone and internet going today. The XJ ran great all the way out and pulled a small U-Haul trailor with no problems. I ran in third all the way at about 28-2900 rpm and 65 to 70 mph. It's hot here now and the Monsoon is about over. Looking forward...
I bought my 99 last August with 27k on it and it had been a soccer mom Jeep only. Other than cookie crumbs under the back seat ait was perfect. It ran perfect until April when the check engine light came on. It was running perfect, no skips or missing. I have it tuned with oem plugs, mopar...
I'm moving to Tucson from Kentucky in September for a new job. I just put an OEM trans cooler on my 99. I figure with the intense heat you have in Arizona for 4-5 months a year it's just good insurance against potential problems. It took me about 1 hour to install with basic hand tools...
I just replaced my 99 O2 with only 35k on it after the check engine light came on for the second time with the same code, bad front O2 sensor. I got the Bosch oem replacement sensor from Auto Zone for about 79 bucks. It works great, for now.
Well my dream has come true and I am moving to Tucson, Arizona for a new job in September. It's the same job that I now do for the State of Ky but now it will be for the State of Arizona with a considerable raise. Since I'll only be a days drive from Moab and the San Juans I probably would...
They are called a "sill re-enforcement strip, I just got one for my 99 Sport. I'm at work and don't have the part number. If you have a 97 or later XJ then you'll only need the strip for the drivers side as the passenger side is already there holding up the exhaust hanger.
My 99 Sport does the exact same thing at idle only. Has since the day i got it. I knew it wasn't a real knock but i couldn't nail down where the noise was coming from. Good to know.
NIT, I think, from California has a kit with a new shaft. They have adds in the back of all the 4WD mags. NIT was alot higher than Tom Woods. I got the TW SYE last fall and put it in and it has been flawless since. Went in like a dream and their driveshafts are very good. You can also get a...
I didn't replace the seal. Jus be careful pulling the yoke. It took me about 15 mins to do mine. They should put a notice on the instructions in red about sealing the yoke splines. If it only takes a few mins to do the wife shouldn't be to upset. Take her out to dinner, If you have the...
Did you put silicone sealer on the splines on the yoke? If not the fluid will run down the splines and out the back next to the uj's. I had the same think happen to me last fall.
I just flushed my brake fluid yesterday. Its a 99 with only 33k on it and the fluid was pretty nasty. I used a Mighty Vac that I bought at Harbor freight for about 30 bucks. It's a tool you can use for alot of other things too so it's a good investment. It's alot easier and safer than pumping...
I used the stock oem Champion plugs(took Bosch Plats out), NAPA cap and rotor(has brass terminals) and the Mopar performance plug wires from the dealer. I think that the general consensus is that you will get better overall performance with oem parts, except for the cap and rotor. You can get...
Also on my 99. I just put my skid plate on a couple of weeks ago. Note that the nut plate is already installed on the passenger side to hold up the tail pipe holder. so you'll only have to buy the "sill reinforcement plate" for the drivers side. Must take the rear bumper off to install nut...
I use the blue RTV. The factory uses some red stuff, I don't know what it is. The blue has held up well for me. Also have some brake cleaner on hand to clean inside of covers and allow the case to drain well and clean the inside of it so oil wont drip out and mess up your rtv. Run about a...
Actually that wire is for the temp sensor for the overhead console. I found the same wire on my 99 sport(that didn't come with factory fogs) and thought the same thing as you did. I just bought a Hella fog light kit complete with wire, relays and switches and installed the lights in the stock...
