I had a similar experienc with my basket tied into the stock rack cross braces. I ended up making crossbars out of 3/4" gas pipe and made drip rail mounts out of .25" steel. The rack is solid now and the pipe does not bend at all. It cost me $17 for 10' of gas pipe and another $5 for the...
I'm prepared to catch all kinds of crap for this so go for it. I have the HF 1/2" Earthquake Pro and have beat the crap out of it and it never fails to amaze me. Prior to this, I had a Craftsman which cost almost twice as much 12 years prior and worked half a good until it finally quit...
Have you checked the Slave master cylinder and the brake master cylinder for fluid? That is the first step. Both use brake fluid. If the slave was low (common for it to leak after a few years) you can top it off and try pumping the clutch pedal with the cap off (wrap a towel around the opening...
I had an old Craftsman TW which had a lifetime warrantee when I bought it 20 some years ago. It broke and I took it back and they said they no longer honored the warantee. I guess it was the lifetime of the tool and not my lifetime.
For some reason, when it comes to sensors and sending units, XJ's don't seem to like a lot of the after market parts. The Mopar units cost a bit more but if your time is worth anything, it is probably cheaper to use the Mopar once than to replace an after market unit two or three times.
I have an old (15 y/o) TSC 3 ton jack and still can't lift my XJ high enough. The HF 6 ton stands do a good job of supporting it when I do finally get it high enough.
That's a smokin deal. This is regularly used by law enforcement officers who work night shift as it frees up their hands to write citations or info and they don't have to tuck a flashlight under their armpit.
I think everyone is taking it for granted that it's a 4x4. Didn't mention anything about that and I don't see any badges on the tailgate stating that. It's probably a 4x2
The Liberty's are ok if you get one that is decently equipped for trails, I would get a early KK though. There is some aftermarket support available for them but nothing like the XJ or TJ. Like the previously post said, there's always the WJs and don't forget the Commanders. I've been seeing...
If you drive it on the highway does it heat up? When you stop and turn it off does the temp keep rising? If you answered either of these questions with yes, chances are your radiator is partially stopped up.
I had a similar situation occur and left the door check out until the wind caught the door and caught my ankle between the door and rocker. I was lucky enough to have enough material to be able to use oversized bolts and it has held tight since.
The welding of a plate would work great.
